Introducing the Portrait Project .... also meet Meghna!

It's not every day that you get to reconnect with someone from your past. It's also not every day that the aforementioned person is someone you didn't know very well. Meet Meghna. Her and I went to college together, we had a similar friend group but never hung out one on one. After I graduated, she wasn't someone that I knew for sure I'd see again. While I was still working in Seattle last year, she started a new job in the same complex. As fate would have it, our paths weren't done crossing yet, and so I thought she'd be a perfect addition for the new portrait project I'm working on. The project is simple. I'm going to catch up with old friends, meet some new ones, and make some art along the way. So me and Meghna kicked things off for the project and caught up over some loose-leaf tea.

So let's get to it, meet Meghna!
note: interview answers are not word for word :)

  1. WHAT'S ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE YOU RIGHT NOW?
I'm focusing on planning little pockets of joy in my life right now, so while I'm adventurous I'm also not going to go cliff jumping anytime soon. One word to describe me? WANDERLUST.
  2. WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE LITTLE?
I remember very distinctly that I wanted to be a figure skater. (*Insert joyous laughing here*) I would watch the Olympics and the skaters were so graceful and cool. I don't know, maybe it was a 90s thing? I never went ice-skating until I was 15 though....
  3. DESCRIBE A PERFECT DAY FOR YOU:
I think it would be pretty boring and mostly at home. I would wake up around 10am, make breakfast (note: if I have food) and take the rest of the day in no order really. But there would be some hot yoga, watch a new show on Netflix, and read. That's been a New Year's resolution of mine this year, to always have a new book on my bedside table. Karl (my S.O.) is with me, I'd do some writing, cook something delicious, and stay up until midnight. It would be really simple and mostly by myself, I'm really comfortable with myself.
  4. HIKE OR BIKE?
Hike. For sure. It's so easy, pretty much free and anybody can do it.
  5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLLEGE MEMORY?
My favorite memory from college is when I performed in the Vagina Memoirs. It was such a great way to connect with other people on a deeper level, cultivate introspection, and better my writing. It was the most developmental thing I did in college.
  6.  IF YOU HAD A BOAT, WHAT WOULD YOU NAME IT?
Side note from Karen: Meghna didn't have a name right away. But we had such a great time catching up she got back to me later that night.
I'd name my first boat Kindred Spirit!

I can't believe how fast the time flew by; Meghna and I had so much fun. And we really learned how much we had in common. Let's do it again soon, lady!
