I met Katrina (aka Kat) when she was a Junior in college, living on the 8th floor as the Resident Advisor. I was her boss. HA. Not really. I was the assistant resident director. That is merely a fancy title in name only. But we did work together! And I knew we were meant to be friends for life, because she took over as the RA of my old, beloved floor. Unfortunately, I was a workaholic in college, and I didn't get to hang out with Katrina as much as I totally should have! Luckily, I tricked her into coming over a few weeks ago to take some pictures. And this is because, as you all will find out, Katrina is flipping gorgeous. In the process, we did some serious catching up, which I loved every single minute of. Katrina is a fun loving, magic playing, beautifully introspective human being.
And so without further ado, meet Kat!
*note: interview answers are not word for word :)
WHAT IS ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE YOU RIGHT NOW?
STAR WARS OR STAR TREK?
Star Wars for sure. I like the universe a lot better.
DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY? WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP? WHAT DO YOU DO? HOW LATE DO YOU STAY OUT?
A perfect day for me starts by waking up around 8am feeling rested and in a home facing the water. I make some coffee and drink it on the deck with a book and Dan (her SO). Then we would take the dogs for a walk to somewhere with brunch. We'd eat outside and then spend the rest of the afternoon outdoors doing something adventurous, wandering through downtown with no agenda. Then we would play some Magic (Magic the Gathering). We'd end the night at Jaunita Cafe, enjoying it in silence because the food is so damn good. And right before bed, we'd have a french press. Which is the best way to end a night.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GAME? WHY?
Magic the Gathering, because I enjoy the strategy. It has a particular rhythm and flow. And it also brought me and Dan closer together.
IF YOU COULD LIVE IN A BOOK, TV SHOW OR MOVIE, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
If I could live in a book, it would be Harry Potter because the world JK Rowling created. It's nicely developed, and I really enjoyed learning about it and the encouraging environment.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE LITTLE?
I wanted to be a veterinarian. I talked myself out of being good at math and science though....SIDE NOTE: Katrina is now an amazing Outreach Coordinator at DigiPen, helping students achieve their dreams and be successful in school!
I am so happy we got to catch up, Kat! You are still very much a kindred spirit, and I am looking forward to having some low-key games nights with you and Dan, very soon!
