Not too many photographers can say they get to shoot a couple before and after their wedding. Traditionally, there may be an engagement shoot and then, of course, the wedding day. If you aren't hired for the actual wedding day - you've missed the boat. But I got extremely lucky with Natasha and Kamal. I captured the day they went to court to make their marriage official.
And then a few weeks later, they were married in an extravagant, traditional Indian wedding. They had already made plans for another person to capture the day - so I wished them well and kept moving forward with other clients. Then, in August, I got a text message. "Hi Karen! Kamal and I didn't really get any pictures together at our wedding and we were wondering if we could schedule another session with you?"
HECK YES YOU CAN!
We met on a moody September evening down at the water. They wore their wedding clothes and we traveled around Coulon Park. The striking difference between the grey clouds, the industrial park, and their outfits was surprisingly spot on! I felt as though I was shooting for an editorial magazine. Too much fun!
What a fun way to be reminded that in life - there is always time for second chances.
Good luck to you, Natasha + Kamal! Marriage already looks good on you :)
