Portrait Project: Meet Maia
Maia is my constant fresh of breath air. We met as Freshman in Mathes. She knew my roommate from playing soccer. And luckily for me, that was a gateway for getting to know her. Long story short, my roommate was super cool but never around. It got kind of lonely, but Maia was always there to hang out! Even today, Maia is still there. And I feel like I am constantly learning something new about her. About a month ago, we went wine tasting and I thought it was a perfect moment to capture some great shots of her beautiful face. Now, meet Maia!
1. WHAT IS ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE YOU
"Flux" ..which I'm not even sure is a real word. But things are changing which is both terrifying and good for me. I'm learning to ride the wave.
2. 4th OF JULY OR ST. PATRICK'S DAY?
Fourth of July. Because everyone knows that's when summer starts in Washington.
3. DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY
I've had a handful of "perfect days". They're each a little different, but most include sweaty, beautiful outdoorsy adventures, good food, and my favorite humans.
4. IF YOU COULD LIVE IN ANY OTHER TIME PERIOD, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
I'll be honest, I'm really grateful for vaccines, Uber, and the interwebs...but if I had to pick a different era, it would be the 1920s. Bring on the feminism!
5. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM FRESHMAN YEAR OF COLLEGE?
Gosh, there are so many good ones! Jumping off Whatcom falls (and shrieking all the way down) is definitely up there. I made a friend who challenged several things that I thought and felt that year. He gently forced me to grow as a person. We don't talk much now, but I've always been grateful for that different perspective.
6. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC THESE DAYS?
I love a little of everything from EDM to country. Lately I can't get enough Odesza or Noah Gundersen. The Odesza remix to "There's something about you" by Haden James has been stuck in my head the past few days.
As you can probably tell, Maia is the coolest! She's an incredibly smart and logical person who also knows how to have a lot of fun. There's never a dull moment hanging with her. Can't wait to enjoy another dinner, another hike, or any other crazy adventure ahead of us, my friend! Thanks for joining the portrait project.
